Install on a Mac

The Mac app installs everything Moneypenny needs on the Mac it runs on, without a terminal. Afterwards your bots and coding chats run on that Mac, and you can reach them from any browser.

What you need

Set up this Mac

  1. Download Moneypenny for Mac and open the app from the disk image.
  2. Sign in with your email address. Moneypenny emails you a sign-in link.
  3. Choose Set up this Mac. The app goes through three steps:
    • Install. It installs the Moneypenny connector from inside the app, so nothing else is downloaded.
    • Connect. It shows a pairing code. Confirm it to connect this Mac to the account you signed in with.
    • Start. It starts Moneypenny as a background service and opens the Mac once it is online.

If setup stopped part-way, the app offers Finish setup. If you chose Not now, the link Run agents on this Mac too brings the offer back.

Sign your agents in

Moneypenny runs the agents' own command line tools with the login they already have. If you have not signed in yet, run claude auth login for Claude Code or codex login for Codex in Terminal. Run ~/.local/bin/moneypenny doctor to see which agents and tools are installed. Moneypenny reports missing tools but never installs or signs in to them for you.

Keep the Mac awake

Moneypenny runs while you are logged in to the Mac. Keep it signed in and stop it sleeping, with Battery settings or caffeinate -s, if you want to reach your agents while you are away.

Intel Macs and the terminal

On an Intel Mac, or if you prefer a terminal, install the connector with the installer script:

curl -fsS https://app.moneypennyagent.com/install.sh -o /tmp/moneypenny-install.sh
bash /tmp/moneypenny-install.sh

It checks the download, installs into your home folder and prints a pairing link and code that last ten minutes. Open the link, sign in, confirm the machine name and code, then confirm in the installer that the account it names is yours.
