Install on Linux
One command installs Moneypenny on a Linux desktop or server. It runs as a systemd user service, and you use it from the app in any browser.
What you need
- Linux on x86-64 with glibc 2.39 or newer and a systemd user session.
- git, and at least one coding agent signed in with its subscription: Claude Code with a Claude plan, Codex with a ChatGPT plan, or OpenCode with an OpenCode Go plan.
Install and pair
curl -fsS https://app.moneypennyagent.com/install.sh -o /tmp/moneypenny-install.sh
bash /tmp/moneypenny-install.sh
- The installer checks the download, installs into your home folder and prints a pairing link and code that last ten minutes.
- Open the link at app.moneypennyagent.com, sign in, and confirm the machine name and code.
- Back in the installer, confirm that the account it names is yours. Whoever approves a code first owns the machine, so a code approved by someone else is refused here.
On a server with no one at the keyboard, set MONEYPENNY_PAIR_EMAIL to your account's email before running the installer.
The installer imports your existing agent skills without overwriting any, and enables the service at ~/.config/systemd/user/moneypenny.service.
Sign your agents in
Run claude auth login and codex login as needed. ~/.local/bin/moneypenny doctor lists which agents and tools it finds. Missing ones are reported, never installed or signed in for you.
Keep it running after you log out
A systemd user service stops when you log out unless lingering is on. Run loginctl enable-linger to keep it running. This may need administrator access.
Check, disconnect or reinstall
moneypenny checktests the connection from the Moneypenny service to your machine and back.moneypenny sync-skillsimports skills you add later.- Disconnecting a machine in the app revokes its access without deleting any files on it. To connect it again, run
moneypenny unpair, disconnect the old machine in the app, then runmoneypenny setup.
