Software factories
A factory is a saved team that turns one goal into several coding chats. A coordinator bot splits the work, starts the chats, follows them and asks reviewers, and you watch the whole run in one place.
Set one up
Open Factories in the sidebar (on a phone, under Library). A factory names:
- a project;
- a coordinator bot;
- its roles. A role is either a template for coding chats (name, agent, instructions) or an existing bot the coordinator can ask for reviews.
Start a run
Start run takes a goal and gives it to the coordinator. The coordinator starts a coding chat for each separate piece of work, each in its own worktree with its role's agent and instructions. It sends follow-up work to the chat that already knows that code, and asks reviewer bots about a chat's work. Only the coordinator starts chats.
Follow it
Each run has its own chat, where every post says who it is from: you, the coordinator, a role's chat or a reviewer bot. Write there and the coordinator reads it on its next turn. The run board shows one line of counts (chats, working, done, failed, pull requests, coordinator turns and time) and each chat's newest message.
A run has no limits of its own; your machine and your subscriptions are the only limits. If a Claude subscription's usage window runs out, the run pauses until the reset and then resumes by itself.
Stop and finish
Stop run stops the coordinator and every chat's turn, and reports anything still running. Worktrees, branches, commits and pull requests are kept, and Resume carries on. When a run has finished, Close worktrees and archive chats closes every chat's worktree, committing any uncommitted changes to its branch first. Merging and pushing are never part of a run.
